| The
HKRFU RUGBY ACADEMY is now calling for applications for the
academic year 2004-2005, which will commence in July 2004.
The purpose of the Academy is to provide promising young rugby
players an opportunity to develop their rugby skills, education
and life style in order that they take full advantage of rugby
and career opportunities in Hong Kong. Students will then be
ideally placed to make a meaningful contribution to Hong Kong
Rugby.
The Academy
will take full advantage of existing initiatives and functions
of the HKRFU (focus groups, clubs, courses etc) and augment
these with various additional and specialized modules in a
comprehensive structure.
An outline
of the Academy structure is as follows:

| Boys and
girls selected for the Academy will receive coaching instruction,
education and guidance (as applicable) in the following three
areas: |
| a.
Rugby |
-
skills (individual, unit and team)
- coaching accreditation
- refereeing
- personal fitness, conditioning and nutrition |
| |
|
| b.
Education |
-
secondary, tertiary, specific courses (as applicable)
supported by HKRFU education grants |
| |
|
| c.
Life skills |
-
a variety of relevant and meaningful Hong Kong community
and team building modules |

| Academy
Agreement |
| A form
of agreement will be entered into with all boys and girls who
enroll in the academy to clearly define to all students (and
their parents, teachers and club coaches) their obligations
and in return the obligations of the HKRFU.

Selection |
| Academy
selection criteria will be based on: rugby skills and potential,
character, age and recommendation(s). |

Club Placements |
| Each student
will be placed with a Club (if not already affiliated with a
Club) and the Club will assume some agreed Academy responsibilities. |

| Staff of
the HKRFU will manage the Academy with assistance / back up
of specialist support personnel |
| |
| Application |
| Application
forms can be obtained from Hong Kong Rugby Football Union (HKRFU).
Completed application form, together with copies of relevant
certificates showing the applicant's results in recognized examination
bodies / current school, should be submitted to the HKRFU on
or before 30 April 2004. |
